Carla Winston on How to Stay Motivated Working Out in California

It is always important to ensure that you spend an adequate amount of time doing something physical to benefit your body, however, it can sometimes be hard to gain motivation. We sat down with fitness influencer Carla Winston to discuss how to keep yourself motivated to work out and have a healthy lifestyle.

One of the main reasons why Carla Winston began her fitness page is because she woke up one day and realized that she was finding it difficult to do basic physical activities. Carla Winston says, “I couldn’t even pick up some groceries without my elbows hurting or walking out up a flight of stairs without getting winded. That started me off saying: I have to really get back in shape.”

Carla Winston spent most of her life as an incredibly active person, having participated in various sports and fitness activities throughout various stages of her life. However, as time went on she realized that she focused on other things more than caring for her physical and mental health, and over time her physical strength started to decline

“As I got older, I had hip problems, back pains, certain aches, and pains that you get as you get older. It just comes with the territory. As I started working out and getting stronger, those pains started to go away, I was feeling a lot more strength – a lot more balance, and strength,” says Carla Winston.

This did not happen organically though. When she first began to get back into working out, Carla Winston found it hard to be able to motivate herself. She says, “What I struggled with is just getting up and getting started. In the times where we don’t want to work out or we’ve got other things to do instead of working out, I find that if you’re just active, whether it’s riding a bike, walking, or just getting up and doing things with your grandkids, your family, your children, it’s important to just to get up off the couch, get up out of bed, and just move.”

This allowed her to realize that by getting back in shape she would be helping herself have a much better life experience. Carla discovered that the best way to keep herself motivated and to be able to help motivate others was by starting a successful fitness Instagram page with over 19,000 followers, where she shares fitness and health tips with them.

“My motto is to just be active, just keep moving, and find the motivation somehow somewhere. Because sometimes we’re going to feel like we don’t want to get up to work out or put in that time. But we have to really push ourselves because it’s for our good and it’s for the better and you will feel better,” says Carla Winston.
